Motiv8 Yourself

Motiv8...
What does the word motivation really mean, how does it impact our actions, and why did we call our company Motiv8?

As far back as Aristotle and Plato, there are many theories as to why some people are highly motivated to achieve their potential in sport and others drift aimlessly through their lives.  Simply stated, motivation is an inner drive that compels behaviour.

"it concerns us to know the purposes we seek in life, for then, like anchors aiming at a definite mark, we shall be more likely to attain what we want"
Aristotle

We believe that without this inner drive, that someone with talent in sport or business or education ... will never achieve their potential. Thus we feel that motivation is an essential corner stone to success.

Motivation can take many forms because we are all unique individuals with different dreams and goals. Muhammad Ali’s motivation is very different to Steve Jobs of Apple Computers, Fergal Quinn of Superquinn’s motivation is very different to Sean Quinn’s of Quinn group, DJ Careys motivation is completely different to Derval O Rourke, Father Peter McVerry’s motivation totally contrasts Michael Jordan's; yet they are all extremely motivated successful and driven people.

"We strive to find out what motivates you, what drives you. We believe that if you have a big enough why, that the how will look after itself. "

It's a book about change. In particular, it's a book that presents a new way of understanding why change so often happens as quickly and as unexpectedly as it does. For example, why did crime drop so dramatically in New York City in the mid-1990's? How does a novel written by an unknown author end up as national bestseller? Why do teens smoke in greater and greater numbers, when every single person in the country knows that cigarettes kill? Why is word-of-mouth so powerful? What makes TV shows like Sesame Street so good at teaching kids how to read? I think the answer to all those questions is the same.

In companies around the world, workers are feeling the effects of a highly addictive chemical. When they experience a reduction of this chemical, even routine work is compromised by feelings of frustration, anxiety, and difficulty in learning. Conversely, increases of this chemical stimulate feelings of pleasure and pride. And, this chemical's effects wear off fast. The need for increased doses can cause people to make serious, career-altering decisions just to get another hit. And the only problem is that too few of us have enough.

Many of these athletes believe that the music aids in relaxation or helps them get into a rhythm necessary for a smooth workout.
